I am a cruiser rider and have been for over 20 years. I ride a Harley Davidson Road Glide Ultra, which is large and heavy, so my leather motorcycle jackets need to be able to withstand the punishment of long rides and keep me cool in the summer. The Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket has done that for me this season and I can tell you why.
Introduction
This is a review of the Dainese Super Speed textile jacket. I’ll tell you what I like about it and what I don’t, and hopefully this will help you decide if this is the jacket for you.
I’m not going to go into all the details of how it’s made or explain how each aspect of its design works, because those things are covered elsewhere, but there are a few things that deserve mention here:
- This isn’t a motorcycle jacket! It’s built for motorcycles, but it’s not protective enough to ride in comfortably while wearing one (in my opinion). If you’re looking for something that will protect you on your bike—and I mean REALLY protect—then check out some other options first. You may be able to find something more affordable than this one anyway. Maybe even something with better airflow too!
- This won’t magically give you better style than everyone else; if anything it might just make them feel even worse about themselves when they see how good yours looks against theirs 😉
Why I Chose The Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket
I chose the Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket because of its great value and protection. I wanted a textile jacket that would be comfortable, practical and multi-use. The Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket has all of these qualities. It is also very affordable for such a protective riding jacket. If you are looking for an affordable but protective riding jacket then look no further than this one!
First Impressions
I’ve owned a lot of jackets. The Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket is good looking and comfortable, well made, and very protective.
The Dainese Super Speed In Action
The Dainese Super Speed is a great piece of gear. It’s well-made, comfortable, and looks great on the bike or off it. The armor works as intended and hasn’t shown any signs of wearing out in the eight months I’ve had it. One thing that does stand out about the Dainese Super Speed is its relative lack of vents compared to many other jackets on the market—there are only five small vents in total: one at each elbow, one under each armpit (which also helps with arm pump), and another small vent just above where your chest harness would sit if you were wearing one.
These aren’t enough to make this jacket unforeseeable for summer riding conditions—but they do make it an ideal companion during colder months when you might not be tempted to crack open all of those zippers anyway!
In terms of fit and style: I’m 5’10”, 155 pounds with broad shoulders and long arms; a size 40 fits me perfectly without being too tight anywhere but also doesn’t feel like there’s extra fabric everywhere else (other than sleeves).
Also worth noting are two things: firstly, while these jackets come in both men’s sizes as well as women’s sizes (30 through 60cm), my female friend who wears size 32 pants found her size 36 jacket still fit her just fine even though she wasn’t able to zip up all three layers at once due primarily because their hips have more shape than ours do which means some extra room around cuffs etcetera wouldn’t necessarily look bad either way! Secondly – these don’t seem particularly heavy compared with other textile riding jackets so don’t worry about sacrificing comfort by going lighter weight material here either.”
Key Features of the Dainese Super Speed Jacket
- Leather panels on the elbows and shoulders
- Removable thermal liner
- Waterproof zippers
- CE certified elbow and shoulder protectors
Pros & Cons Of The Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket
Pros:
- The jacket is very comfortable, with a relaxed fit and mesh lining to reduce body heat buildup.
- It has great ventilation, with perforations on the shoulders, elbows and back. This makes it ideal for hot weather riding.
Cons:
- The torso length is shorter than expected—it’s cut short in front and in back so it doesn’t ride up when you put your arms out to the sides. This can cause an issue when reaching overhead or placing your arms behind you while riding (e.g., changing lanes).
The Bottom Line On The Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket
As a cruiser rider, I’m used to having to make compromises. But with the Dainese Super Speed textile jacket, I don’t have to make any. It protects me well in the summer and winter months while giving me comfort that’s on par with a leather jacket. If you’re looking for an all-season textile jacket that will protect you from rain, wind and cold without breaking your bank account—and if you’re willing to give up some of your “Ride Free” lifestyle—the Dainese Super Speed is a great choice.
If you are looking for a multi-use leather or textile motorcycle jacket, then check out the Dainese Super Speed.
If you are looking for a multi-use leather or textile motorcycle jacket, then check out the Dainese Super Speed. This is a great choice for any rider who wants a single jacket that can be worn during the summer and in cooler weather as well.
The Dainese Super Speed is very comfortable on and off of your bike, as well as being stylish enough to wear on the street when you’re not riding.
I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the Dainese Super Speed jacket and pants as much as I have. I was drawn to them because they seemed practical and comfortable.
I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the Dainese Super Speed jacket and pants as much as I have. I was drawn to them because they seemed practical and comfortable. The jacket is warm enough for most riding conditions, and it’s so comfortable that I find myself wearing it around town even when I’m not on my bike. The pants feel like they’re made of butter, but they don’t look like they would be good for motorcycle riding in any way other than comfort—but appearances can be deceiving!
The jacket may be a little pricey at $500, but it’s worth every penny if you want something that performs well on your bike or off of it.
There is plenty of room in the jacket and pants for this cruiser with a gut.
I am 6’2″ and weigh 200 lbs. My chest size is 42″, waist size is 33″, inseam is 35″. I wear a size 52 jacket and size 34 pants.
I have plenty of room in this jacket. It fits me perfectly around my chest and shoulders, but it’s just a little bit large through the waist (a problem for me because I have a gut). The sleeves are long enough for me to push up or roll up when riding, but if you’re tall and have long arms there may be some extra fabric between your wrist and cuffs that you’ll want to consider before buying this jacket.
I have had good experience with the elbow/forearm protections, both in summer riding conditions and in the cold this winter. The back protection has yet to be tested.

The elbow/forearm protections are comfortable and easy to use, with a simple elastic strap that allows you to snug them down onto your arm like a sleeve. The majority of these are made from some sort of foam material, which means they’re not going to be as protective as CE-rated armor (which is hard plastic), but they do offer more flexibility than metal armor while still providing some measure of protection against impact. The only downside is that if you crash hard enough and break through the outer layer, then there’s no second layer — so be careful!
Since I don’t typically ride in extreme temperatures or high speeds with my Dainese jacket on (yet), I can’t comment on how well these would hold up in those conditions yet. However, the elbow/forearm protectors have held up fine when wearing them under jeans when it was cold outside for rides around town or long days at work; I’m sure they’d do just fine if I were riding somewhere warm too!
The leather panels on the knees offer sufficient grip for me to be able to hang off the motorcycle, if that is your style of riding. For me it is not, so they would just be extra protection.

The fabric provides some warmth but not enough for me to wear it very often when it gets colder than 50F/10C degrees.
The Super Speed Textile Jacket is a great jacket for warmer days. It’s not warm enough to wear when I ride in cooler weather, but it’s perfect for spring/fall riding up to about 50F/10C degrees. The jacket is water resistant, so it will still keep me dry in light rain and misty conditions.
It’s also very comfortable in warm weather, which makes it a great option for long rides when you want to stay cool and comfortable all day long!
The price point is reasonable in my opinion. It is not cheap by any means but considering what you get; materials, protection, comfort and overall quality I think it is reasonable.

For a full-textile jacket like this one that has some very nice features and a lot of good design choices the price point is a good one considering how much value you are getting.
Conclusion
I think if you are looking for a multi-use leather or textile motorcycle jacket, then check out the Dainese Super Speed. I was drawn to them because they seemed practical and comfortable.
