When it comes to my gear, I’m a bit of a snob. I don’t mind spending a little extra money for quality, and I always opt for the best products on the market. That being said, it’s no surprise that my favorite motorcycle jacket is also one of the most expensive ones out there. And yet, it has more than earned its keep over the last few years!
The Klim Induction Rain Jacket is everything you could ever want in a riding jacket: waterproof outer shell with great ventilation system; adjustable fit and comfortable; quiet when riding; removable thermal liner; lots of pockets (including hand warmer pockets); style and fit options available…the list goes on! If you’re like me and looking for an investment piece of gear to protect yourself while riding down those country roads or through city streets then this might be just what you need.
The outer shell is waterproof
- The exterior of the jacket is a waterproof, breathable fabric that’s windproof and durable.
- It’s quiet. You won’t hear any crinkling or rustling as you move around in it, which means you don’t have to worry about attracting attention to yourself while on a hunt.
- It’s also water repellent, so if you get caught in the rain or drop something on your sleeve while cooking dinner outdoors, it won’t soak through immediately like other jackets might.
It has a great ventilation system.
One of the key features of my Klim Induction rain jacket is its ventilation system. It has a large chest pocket with a waterproof zipper, so you can store items like your phone or other essentials inside without worry. This pocket also serves as a vent, allowing air to flow through and cool you down when it’s hot outside.
There are vents at the back, under the arms, and in the front that allow air to flow through so you don’t get too warm while walking around town looking for food! But if it does get too hot out there for your liking—or if there’s simply nothing interesting to do for an hour or two—you can adjust these vents accordingly depending on how intense your walk is going to be.
The fit is comfortable and adjustable.
I love how comfortable the jacket feels on my body. It’s adjustable in several places, so you can wear it loose or tight depending on how much protection you want from the rain. The sleeves are very long, which helps prevent any rain from running down your arms. And the elastic at the waist and underarms allows for plenty of movement without feeling constricting. The overall design is lightweight, flexible and durable—just what I like in a rain jacket!
It’s quiet when riding.
You know that sound you hear when your jacket rubs against your pants? I’m pretty sure it’s called “the crinkle.” Or maybe it’s “the swoosh”? Anyway, when you’re riding, that noise can be really annoying and distracting. It can also distract other people around you and make them feel uncomfortable.
My Klim Induction Rain Jacket doesn’t have this problem because of its material: it’s coated nylon—a nylon fabric with a Teflon finish—which makes the jacket quiet in motion (but not quite silent). The coating also helps repel water and adds some waterproofing to the garment. This is great because I don’t want my clothes getting wet as I ride!
The venting system on this jacket is also designed to reduce noise while riding; there are two vents at each shoulder, two chest pockets with mesh inner linings, and two hand pockets that zip closed so things don’t fall out while riding. Plus, all of these openings allow air circulation inside the jacket which keeps me cool even when it’s warm outside!
The riders’ heat exhaust vents are amazing!
The riders’ heat exhaust vents are amazing! They help keep you dry and comfortable, without being too loud. As a rider and a commuter in wet conditions, I love how well this ventilation system works.
The jacket has a removable thermal liner
Another great feature of this jacket is that it has an optional thermal liner. The liner can be removed and worn separately, so you have the option to wear just your rain shell or zip in the thermal layer for extra warmth. The fleece material is soft, warm, and comfortable against the skin. It’s easy to put on and take off—just pull over your head like a sweatshirt—and has a zipper pocket on the front for stashing gloves or sunglasses.
It has lots of pockets.
I love that this jacket has lots of pockets. You can store your phone, keys, wallet and more in the two hand pockets; use the two chest pockets to keep those hands warm; store stuff in the internal document pocket or one of its two external document pockets.
I love the style and fit.
I love that it’s not bulky, but it still protects me from the rain. The style is one of my favorite parts about this jacket. It’s not too long like a lot of rain jackets, so I don’t feel like I’m swimming in fabric when I wear it. Plus, the sleeves are just right—they’re long enough to keep you dry but short enough that they won’t get in your way while riding a bike or running around outside with your kids (which is pretty much all I do these days).
It’s made in the USA.
I love the fact that my Klim Induction Rain Jacket is made in the United States.
It’s an important aspect of this garment for me for a few reasons:
- It creates jobs in my community, which is something I care about deeply.
- The quality of the product is higher than what could be achieved if it were made overseas or at least somewhere far away from where I live (like China).
- Supporting local business makes me feel good!
Comfort, fit, durability, and quality all make this jacket one of my favorites.
The Klim Induction Rain Jacket is a comfortable and well-fitting jacket that I wear often. The hood is adjustable so you can pull it tight around your face, which makes it an ideal jacket for wet weather. It has two sets of pockets, one on each side of the chest area for easy access when you’re wearing a backpack or other large item with both hands occupied. The jacket has a zipper closure at the bottom hem that allows you to adjust how much of your legs are covered by the rain gear.
This is also a very durable rain suit—I’ve tested this in heavy downpours and it stands up to everything Mother Nature throws at me! You won’t have any issues if your bike gets muddy or dusty; all you need is some soap and water to clean up after riding through puddles or dirt roads (or this might be good for road touring!).
Conclusion
The Klim Induction Rain Jacket is a great investment for anyone who loves to ride their bike and be out in the elements. The quality of this jacket makes it one of my favorites and I am glad that I found it!
