What’s good?
The best thing about this jacket is the fit. It’s not too baggy, but it isn’t skin-tight either. The arms are long enough that they cover your wrists when you lift them above your head (a problem I have with many jackets). The chest area isn’t tight enough to restrict movement or cause any discomfort, but it’s also not so loose that there’s excess material flapping in the wind while riding.
The protection on offer here is fantastic! Not only does it come with CE-approved chest and shoulder protectors, but Rukka also provide a back protector insert for extra protection against falls and impacts. They’re easily removable if you don’t want them in there for whatever reason – though I would recommend leaving them in for extra safety! You can also remove one of these pads if you have an accident and need surgery on one side of your body; having two pads means that neither one will be damaged by being worn over extended periods of time without being taken out once in a while (which is important because those things aren’t cheap!).
The ventilation system works really well: there are mesh panels at key points throughout the jacket which allow air flow through so that you don’t get sweaty even when wearing it during warm weather conditions like summer months where temperatures tend towards 30 degrees Celsius or higher! If anything does happen where something gets wet inside (like sweat) then rest assured because Rukka uses Gore Tex technology which prevents liquid from entering into its construction material – keeping both yourself safe AND dry throughout each ride 🙂
